Adalyn Month Twelve!

On Saturday you turned one year old.  I can't believe how much you've changed in such a short period of time.  It's been an amazing year with highs and lows along the way.  You've learned so much and continue to explore the world around you every day.

Stats:  Yesterday we went to the doctors office for your one year check.  While we waited for the doctor you walked back and forth around the room getting your mileage in.  You're now 29 inches tall, which makes just 6 inches shy of being half as tall as your mommy!  You're weighing in at 21 pounds which means you've gained no weight since your 9 month check.  Your height and weight are approximately 50-75 percentile while your big noggin (thanks daddy) comes in at 90-95 percentile.  Your chubby rolls are slowly thinning out.  You're now wearing 12 month clothes and size 3 shoes.

Sleep Schedule:  You're sleep schedule is still all over the place.  You have nights where you wake up every 3 hours and other nights where you will pull off an 8 hour stretch.  The goal, my sweet, is a straight 8 hour stretch followed  by another 3!  Please try this out a couple times, I think you'll enjoy it!  You're attempting to drop a nap which will take you to 1 nap a day.  If you're occupied enough throughout the day we can pull this off, otherwise you get pretty cranky and need the nap.  Your naps take approximately 2 hours each.

Foods:  You're eating everything we are like the last update.  You're still not a huge fan of meat so meals can often times be difficult getting protein in.  The good news is you seem to love beans and hummus so you are getting some protein.  This week we'll be introducing whole milk to your diet to start the weaning process.  I have a feeling you won't enjoy it since you still love to nurse.  I have mixed feelings giving up nursing but I know it's a part of your growth.  You are slowly figuring out the sippy though you still prefer to play with the water in the cup.

Firsts:  We experienced your first Christmas this year.  You got a lot of gifts and ate a lot of wonderful foods and were exhausted after 3 days worth of events!  You caught your first stomach bug a couple days before New Years Eve (which you passed along to your mommy).  The stomach bug was a sad couple days for you.  You felt miserable and looked very sad when you woke up that night.  You experienced your first New Years Eve which was a nonevent since mommy was sick.  You also experienced your first trip to IKEA and ate your first kids meal of Swedish meatballs!  And of course you experienced your first birthday party!  You had so much fun but I'll post about that later.  You now know how to shake your head no which can be annoying when I'm trying to feed you.

Favorite Toys:  You still have a passion for your books.  You are starting to enjoy toys more than you ever have before.  You love climbing behind things and through the tunnel you got for Christmas.  We got you musical instruments for your birthday and your love your drum set.  You've been walking around with your baby hugged to you which is so cute.

One of my favorite things you've learned and started doing is picking up a piece of dust, lint, etc. or brought a toy to me to share with me.  It's the cutest thing ever.  I can't wait until you're old enough for a tea party because I can imagine you'll have a great imagination.  So much has happened since you were born a year ago and I cannot imagine how different you will be a year from now.
